All non-UC sites are currently inaccessible. This will include Multisearch, LibGuides, Databases, etc.
The ICT service desk said that technicians are working on it, but they don’t have an estimate for when it will be fixed.

The Hours page has been updated for this week. Could branch managers please check the hours for their location, and send any updates to Library IT.
Thanks,
Donna
Most eBook packages have now been activated, and can be accessed via the links on the New Electronic Resources Page or the eBook Collections page. Please note that Summon does not index all of these resources, so in many cases you will need to go directly to the eBook package to search. However, we are working to get MARC records for most of these resources which will eventually provide more access via Summon.
Ebrary titles are not yet available, even though they can be found in Summon. We are waiting to hear back from the supplier. Once activated, the records in Summon should link straight through to the full-text.
Wiley eBooks have also not been activated yet, and shouldn’t appear in Summon until they are activated.
The following resources have been activated, but are either not indexed in Summon, or the links won’t work until we have the Serials Solutions eBook service – you may see the message “This book is not available online”:
– Taylor & Francis eBooks
– Palgrave Macmillan
– SAGE Reference Online
– Emerald eBooks
– Gale Cengage
– Elsevier
– Blackwell Reference Online
– CRCnetBASE
Serials Solutions are making changes that should (fingers crossed!) fix the Summon linking problems to new Gale Cengage and Ebrary eBooks. Apparently this fix should go live tomorrow after their cache refresh.
MARC records for eBooks that aren’t indexed by Summon should fill the gaps fairly soon. We’ll post more information when we know more.

A program is now available from the Horizon Reports page under “Earthquake Resources”. Thanks to Catherine for getting this up and running yesterday.
http://wiki.canterbury.ac.nz/display/LIBRSTAFF/Central+collections+at+branches
The program will change the location and collection codes of Central items returned to branch libraries, and save the original location and collection codes. At this stage, it is only available to Law and Education, but we can extend this to other branches if required.
To use the program:
– Physically transfer the item to the branch where it will be held (no need to check it in).
– Select the appropriate branch from the drop-down list and scan in the barcodes.
– Check-in the items to remove the “temporarily unavailable” status and allow requests and loans.
I will be visiting the Law and Education Libraries today to provide some training to staff.

The virus that has been affecting printers in recent weeks has returned. Please turn printers off for now.
We’ll update you when we hear more.
For those of you who were worried about it, I’m very happy to report that the Library IT teapot has escaped injury, and is now safely reunited with its owners.
Now all we need is a kettle!
Catherine
A wiki page has been set up for staff to document any frustrations or issues that are yet to be addressed. Please add your item to the list here:
http://wiki.canterbury.ac.nz/display/LIBRSTAFF/Earthquake recovery – frustrations and issues
Due to a virus outbreak on campus, there have been problems with printers, including reams of paper being produced with only a few characters on them. CEPS are offering a free service to make note pads from wasted copier paper. Please deliver the used paper to the Central Print Room located next to the Warehouse
Received from Mark Andrews from ICTS at 2.31pm
We have another computer on the network with a virus causing it to send jobs to all our printers. Please turn off your printers if they are printing out many pages.
We have paused the print queues and will clear all the jobs out of them. I expect to have the machine off the network in the next few minutes and have the print queues up and going within half an hour.
Further info from Mark Andrews – 3pm.
Unfortunately we have found more instances of the virus, at this stage it would be unsafe for us to re-enable printing, and we recommend leaving your printer off.
We are now in contact with our antivirus supplier and working with them to try and stop the spread of this virus.
I will update you on progress at 4pm
