Kia ora Library Staff Team

Some updates from the Library Managers amid a very full August. You can read the latest University Librarian’s Report for an overview of the wide range of projects happening around the Library Team

Quick Communications Poll – Link to 2 question poll

We have a lot of different ways of sharing information and we want to make sure we are getting the important info out to you in the best way. Which communication channels do you rely on or focus on the most? Please use the link above to let us know 😊

Mental Health First Aid course dates:

  • Mondays – 2nd & 9th October 9-4pm (8 spaces left)
  • Tuesday and Thursday – 21, 23, 28, 30 November 9.00-12.30pm (15 spaces left)

Please chat to you manager/team leader, and let me know which session you are interested in. If you have already expressed interest for a particular cohort, I will be in touch to confirm shortly.

Staff Forum

A reminder we will be gathering later this month for two sessions of staff forum. We will repeat the same content at each session so we can have as many staff attend as possible. We will be joined by Tracey Robinson from P&C Wellbeing as well as our MLM Project Change Manager, Nicola Adams, from Digital Services.

We will have some group activities, some kai and some time for Q&A. Session information:

    • Monday 28th August 1-3pm
    • Wednesday 30th August 10am-12pm

Digital Information Project Update

The gradual transition from P Drive to One Drive is in progress. We are compiling any issues that arise with this – such as issues with Endnote library when cloud based, and syncing default save locations – and feeding them back to the Change Manager.

There was a recent announcement on the intranet that one remote access method is being retired at the end of this month – however there are other ways to do this and this access method is rarely used. If you access the network drives remotely when working from home and are concerned you may lose access, please get in touch and I can help you troubleshoot. You can read the article here.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or issues – I am happy to jump on teams and give you a quick run through if you feel unfamiliar with the OneDrive Environment.

Rosalind Patrick Awards – Applications open

We are gathering next month for the Annual Rosalind Patrick Awards on the 21st September at 10:30am. The Rosalind Patrick Award for funding professional development opportunities is still open – please chat with your manager if you need any support for professional development opportunities. Are you tired of struggling to adopt new habits, only to see them fizzle out after a few days or weeks? Do you wish you could finally break free from the cycle of motivation followed by disappointment? Look no further! We are hosting the Creating Habits that Stick webinar on Tuesday 25th July, 12:00 – 12:50pm

By attending this webinar you will learn:

  • The power behind tiny changes and how they can create remarkable results
  • The four laws behind behavioural change
  • Tips to create good habits or break bad habits
  • Four simple steps to build habits that stick

How to get the most out of the session:

Before attending this session, think about your daily habits. What would you like to STOP doing? This could be stop smoking, eating sugar, procrastinating, swearing, drinking energy drinks or alcohol – whatever this looks like in your personal or work life. What would you like to START doing? Going to the gym, eating more vegetables, planning you day every day, playing with your kids every day, turning your phone off at night, once again, this is completely personal to you.

This will help you to start thinking about this during the session and make it more relevant and practical to you and your situation.
