Now happening on Tuesday 2pm onward 🙂
Juliet
You are cordially invited to a high tea in the customer services work room on Tuesday the 26th of November starting at 2pm.
This high tea is to belatedly celebrate show week and welcome summer.
Edit: Wear what you like the weather is supposed to be a bit temperamental… The dress code is sun dresses and bow ties (or your own form of glamour) 🙂
Bring a plate of something to share if you can.
See you there,
Mōrena koutou,
Today at 12pm behind the Den on level 2 PJH there is a Q&A and Book Reading by Lawrence Patchett.
Everyone is welcome and there will be tea and coffee available.
What is it about?
“A futuristic Aotearoa ,where very different lives are lived inside and outside a fenced settlement, where plastic is mined and the future is uncertain, is created in Lawrence Patchett’s second novel. The Burning River starts with swamp dweller and plastics trader Van, whose friend Rau has just consigned his dead, loved wife to the water. Van has summoned to the settlement a young woman, a fetch. But they have only a short time to make it through the Gap if he agrees to accept an unknown fate.” -Radio NZ

Kia ora koutou,
The library Survey has reached over 600 responses from staff students and subscription borrowers.
There has been less than expected numbers due to the UCSA running a survey at the same time (that offered travel vouchers as a reward) and many students think they have completed our one online already – though they haven’t.
It’s great to see some people are using the email signature that enables anyone to click on the logo and take the survey.
We are posting on our social media platforms today to remind people Sunday is the last day to complete a library survey and go in the draw to win.

Kia ora koutou,
The library survey for 2019 is well under way. The survey opened on Monday 9th of September and closes on the 6th of October.
The objectives of the survey is to further understand how we can offer timely, appropriate support and effective information at the point of need and to provide users with the opportunity to communicate openly and honestly with the Library.
We are asking that if staff would like to see the questions that you see Rā, Swee Hoon, Glenna, Rebecca or myself. We would be happy to show you the questions. This survey is intended predominantly for students to give us feedback and library staff responses may skew our results.
So far we have had 208 responses. Respondents have been very positive and expressed that they felt supported and that their needs were met be library staff.
Below you can see some of the survey computers/devices set up to take the library survey.

If you would like to know how much our students value the work that goes into GradFest and what they get out of it, you might like to have a read of the anecdote below.

The marketing group has two big events coming up.
With mid-year enrollments and Re-O-Week approaching we are working on making library info packs to give to new students. We will make these available at all library locations until we run out.
As part of our library welcome there will be an email to all new students (new postgrads will receive a different welcome email tailored to their needs) with information on the library and the support we can offer.
Exam packs are happening again. We will have competitions on our social media platforms. This went well last time, we saw great engagement with students, gained more followers and an opportunity to get feedback.
GradFest promotion is in full swing, this is the link to the sign up page http://www.lps.canterbury.ac.nz/lsc/lsc-course-LSCC.php
We are creating material to go up around campus, blogs, tweets, posts, student emails and Insta stories as well as library news.
We have a new, simple marketing request form at the link below.

Remember to keep sending us your photos to the marketing inbox!

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that came and helped out at the library stall for Autumn Arrival yesterday.
I estimate we had over 500 student interaction as we received approximately 450 guesses for our Jelly Bean competition. A fair few student’s didn’t submit a guess and had a chat about library support.
Our two lucky winners are undergraduate engineering students, they will be notified tomorrow.
