In Formal View

The art exhibition ‘In Formal View’ is now open in the central library lounge on level 2. The exhibition features a selection of new portraits in the art collection. Some are recent donations or purchases, while others are drawn from the many works we have found around the university in the last 2 years. In addition to the labels with the works, I have also produced some booklets with the full text and references – these are on the coffee table in the lounge. Should anyone want to know more, please call me.

Note that due to the fragile nature of the artworks on display, it would be better if students do not use the area for seating for the duration of the show. I would be grateful if staff could help to monitor this.

If you notice any problems with the exhibition please call me or Sharon King as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Terri

Neil Dawson Sculpture

Good morning,

Many of you will notice that there is a new sculpture hanging in the central library between levels 2 and 3. The work is ‘Lit LeWitt’, by Neil Dawson. The work is from 1994, and is made of alluminium mesh. I will install a label for this work today but have also produced a small sheet with information on the work for any staff who are interested, which can be found in Q drive/Terri.

The sculpture was installed early this morning by John and Michael from Facilities Management, who made a superhuman effort to be here at 5am to set up the scaffolding. We have used a triple wire hanging for the work so that it is secure.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me on 8669.

Thanks

Terri
