Springer access

In SpringerLink the little green icons that show that we have full/partial access are not showing at the moment. We get access to the content as we should so that’s not a problem; it’s just that people won’t know whether or not we have access. Until this is resolved and the icon reappears you may get people reporting an “Access to this resource is secured” message when using Springer.

Access to journals can be checked through the Journals page or the Library Catalogue; otherwise, contact Collection Services to clarify our current access.

ACM Digital Library

ACM has introduced Author Profile pages with citation and usage statistics to the Digital Library. The new features, which also include Bibliometrics, provide a snapshot of an individual author’s contributions to computing, and a basic measure of their influence on the field. These pages are linked from author names on Citations in the ACM Digital Library. – ACM Press Room

ScienceDirect

New reference and navigational features have been added to ScienceDirect.

ScienceDirect now offers preview tabs – on the results page or table of contents page – giving quick access to abstracts, article outlines, etc, without the page reloading. All article-related functionality including “Cited By”, “Download PDF”, “E-mail Article” and more, are together in one location. Reference information, including links to the referenced articles (if available), can be viewed when the cursor moves over a reference marker in the body of an article. Previously, reference information was only available at the foot of the article page.

Additionally, researcher comments and ratings from 2collab, Elsevier’s free web-based collaborative platform, will be integrated with the articles in ScienceDirect.

New Cabell’s database

The Cabell’s business directories site is being reconstructed and will be unavailable until 15 April at the earliest. I’ve added a note to the databases-C page.

The new website will have many improvements, including more frequent updates, ranking of Business journals, new journals, master list of all journals, etc.

JSTOR

JSTOR has been updated to the new platform with new features that include personalisation (MyJSTOR) and searching enhancements.

Access URLs have not changed but currently JSTOR is extremely slow. Problems with access to articles are occurring on both IE and Firefox. JSTOR has been notified.

You may also notice that links to recent content state that UC provides links through SFX (goes to Article Linker). This is being fixed asap.
