IP&Science Roadshow

Thomson Reuters are hosting an IP&Science Roadshow at UC.

When: Wednesday 18 May 2016 (i.e. next Wednesday!) from 9:00am to 12:30pm

Where: The John Britten Building foyer (previously known as the NZI3 building, on Creyke Road)

Cost: Free
Have a look at the agenda on the Roadshow webpage. As is to be expected, Thomson Reuters products will dominate the programme, and I expect a robust sales flavour to the morning.

Register on the Roadshow webpage if you’re interested in attending.

Altmetrics in Summon

Summon now has a new feature – the “Altmetrics Badge”.   This means that you can view the altmetrics data for individual articles where available.  Altmetrics can be described as alternative metrics. In contrast to traditional  metrics (citations) altmetrics measure the impact of the article in social media sites such as Twitter, Mendeley, Facebook etc.

For example if you select this article you will view the attached altmetric data:

Malek, A., & Costa, C. (2015). Integrating communities into tourism planning through social innovation. Tourism Planning & Development, 12(3), 281-299. doi:10.1080/21568316.2014.951125
