DPI tip for April 2019

Micropauses are when you relax your posture for a few seconds regularly throughout your day and also take a few deep breaths.

Micropauses are beneficial to reduce muscle tension (the major cause of most DPI symptoms) and allow blood flow back into tense muscles.

You can find more information on micropauses under the Seminar Handouts heading at the bottom of the DPI page in Camelot found here

Restricted classification DVDs

We are removing any R16 or R18 rated DVDs or videos from the open shelves in the Self Loan area of Central Library.  To meet the legal requirements they will eventually be kept in a secure area and proof of ID will be required to issue them.  Currently they are sitting on a trolley by Jenny and Rā’s desk in the Level 2 workroom PJH. If a DVD is not on the shelf then please check this trolley first.

I will also be following up with DVDs in EPS and MB.

We will be following the guidelines from the Office of Film & Literature Classification found here

Wonderful feedback from a postgrad

Kia ora koutou

We have received this amazing feedback for library staff on Asklive – it is so good to know we can make such a difference . Keep up the great work everyone!

I have just got my Masters results and want to give a big shout out THANK YOU to the library staff for all your support of my bizarre enquiries, last year especially. Your dedication to be there, especially in the evenings/weekends, answer promptly, assist me find references when I mislaid the source was OUTSTANDING. Please ensure all librarians are THANKED from me, whatever their roles in the library. Thank you all. You too are part of getting the A+ in my view.
You make a difference to me and MANY students, far beyond the obvious. Simply knowing that as a distance student, lost, frustrated, isolated.. and that you were there was HUGE. Somehow you cared, mighty work you all did. Thank you.  Please keep doing what you are doing with supporting students (and staff). It matters.

New hamper system

From January 2019,  the urgent items hamper has been removed. This was located on the bench next to the guillotine in customer services L2 workroom, PJH.

All items to be moved between locations go in the hampers on the bench by the window.

Customer services staff are transporting these items every weekday between EPS, MB and Law Basement.  We go to Henry Field on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Last Hamper run tomorrow

Allied Pickfords will do the last hamper run tomorrow.  Please make sure you make use of this and put any items in the hampers today for relocation.

From next year the Customer Services team will move items between libraries in large basket trolleys. Please continue to place items in the labelled hampers in the L2 workroom as usual.
