This week the old furniture on levels 8 & 11 of PJH is being removed and new furniture installed by Aspect. These 2 floors are not available for study during this week and signage has been put in place to show this. The discussion rooms have been made unavailable in the booking system.
Next week I hope to share some photos of the new look

Both EPS and MB Libraries will be closed tomorrow 1-3pm, 5 October for the TEU members strike. PJH will remain open as a study space and will be staffed by non-union members, with very limited service.
Asklive will also not be available 1-3pm.
We will communicate this to our community via Library News and Social Media.

I’m very pleased to announce that Bronwyn Collins has been appointed to the Library Systems Co-ordinator role to fill Peter’s role when he retires. Bronwyn will be familiar to some of you because she has worked in the LAC team previously between 2015-2019.
Bronwyn starts in the role on 3 October and I look forward to her joining the team.

Things are moving along with this project – literally! Starting yesterday (15 Aug) the project library assistants Megan and Sandra are moving books on level 9 of PJH. They work four mornings a week. Over the next couple of months we need to move every book on floors 8,9,10 & 11 to create space for the new reduced shelving layout for levels 8 and 11. We will also need extra assistance from other staff for this part of the project.
The new furniture procurement for levels 8 and 11 is also nearing completion and we will be able to share the plans for these floors soon.

This role is to replace Peter Kennedy who retires in September.

Peter will be retiring from his role in Library Systems in October 2022. His last day at work will be September 16. We will be very sad to see Peter go as he has been such an integral part of the team for a very long time and built many relationships with staff over the 30+ years he has been working in the Library.
Peter’s role as Library Systems Coordinator will be advertised soon so we can get the vacancy filled hopefully before he leaves.
Ngā mihi,
Jenny
