Library Staff Forums

Next week we have scheduled two Library Staff Forums which you have received invites for.

There is a lot happening in the library and wider UC so the forum will include a Q&A session with all the library managers.

We invite your questions!
You can ask your questions on Sli.do anonymously prior to the meetings, and also in person at the forums.

The forums are also a chance to mix with colleagues and enjoy some refreshments together.  We look forward to seeing you next week.

Distance service moves to Library Access and Collections team

From 19 July 2021  Library Access and Collections team (LAC) are responsible for providing the Distance service.  The service has moved from the Engagement and Learning Support team after several trials during which LAC staff learned most of the processes involved. Jenny Owens will be the manager responsible for the service.

The process is very similar to the Interloans service which LAC has responsibility for, so there are efficiencies to be gained by having the same team provide both services involving posting and scanning of items.

Any distance enquiries can still go to distance@libr.canterbury.ac.nz which LAC are now responsible for monitoring.

Work on Cardax door controllers in PJH this week

Kia ora koutou

We have received the following message from Pat Keogh- this could affect any entry doors controlled by card entry.

Over the next 4 – 5 days we are up –grading the Cardax Controllers in the Puaka James Hight Building  – this means that during the day doors may unlock for a short period of time.

All systems will be returned to operational  at or before 5.00pm each day and all cards will work as usual afterhours.  Please pass on this information to other affected users.

The maximum number of doors affected at once  is 8
This work is being carried out by Evotek.

Pink Ribbon morning tea

You are all invited to a Pink Ribbon morning tea  this Friday in PJH staffroom to help raise some money for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.  We are taking part in this national event (Pink Ribbon Breakfast) to remember Lyndsay Ainsworth plus many other library staff who have been affected by breast cancer.

Morning tea is provided for free by the Library managers, but we ask that you consider making a donation to our Pink ribbon account which I have set up for the Library.  See the links for more information on how to donate.
