We have two every so slightly different editions of this text – pagination and numbering of problem sets varies but the content is the same.
Students seem to want the hardcover version (which typically we only have two copies of!) The call number for the hardcover version is HG 4521 .B667 2007. The soft cover version is the same call number with a lower case ‘a’ following the 2007. We have 6 copies of the soft cover version.

GEOL 230 Death Valley Maps
GEOL 230 students will be using a set of Death Valley maps which have been catalogued as non-library items. There are 8 map sets numbered from 2-9. All but number 3 in the set comprise 3 sheets in an envelope. Number 3 map has 2 sheets.
A title keyword search ‘death valley map’ brings up the 8 records.
Watch that screen!
Please read and act on the check-in notes displayed on screen at Checkin points.
“Wanted – central Restricted Loans…” type check-in notes mean we want the item. Usually these notes are accompanied by a Workroom request but not always. Often the most urgent type of item has already been recalled by another borrower. In this case we can’t make the Workroom request numero uno in the request queue. So yes, the item will come up with a request for a real live borrower but Restricted Loans wants the item first. Occasionally there may be no request just a checkin note.
Non-library books
Lending Desk Staff FYI:
The Non-library books have been moved to the end of the 3 Hour photocopy sequence. This has given us some room to grow the Hold shelf along the back wall.
For 2008 newly recieved e-Reserves will be electronic only – no hard copy. For items we are unable to digitise (for copyright or file size reasons) we will still hold a hard copy.
Issuing DVDs and Group check items
The newer DVDs are stripped so 07 DVDs need to be desensitised. Do not put VIDEOs any where the desensitising blocks! With Group check out items – open the item to check and count how many items you are issuing. Accompanying CD-ROMS are now inserted in pockets inside the book. The label on the front cover will tell you how many items you are looking for.
ANTA Non-library DVDs behind the Lending Desk
A reminder to desk staff of the whereabouts of the ANTA 102 & 103 Non-library DVD’s. They are shelved in a box at the end of the 3 Hour photocopy sequence (bottom shelf). There is a list of titles in the box and they are easily searchable by title keyword: course code dvd (e.g. ‘anta 102 DVD’).
Thesis not able to be requested
I’ve given this Engineering Geology Thesis a reference itype to prevent it being requested at the behest of a lecturer who doesnt want his ENGE 486 and ENNT 363 students to get at it. The students have been set a field exercise and he doesn’t want them to have the advantage of Jenny Lee’s thesis. This embargo is valid until the 13th of September. The thesis is: ‘Engineering geological investigation of the Lake Coleridge rock avalanche deposits, inland Canterbury’ by Jenny Lee (bib#935314).
