Fudge day – advanced warning!

Keep Tuesday the 11th of July free for eating fudge.  Keep the weekend prior free for making fudge.  Those of us who have been around the traps for a while will remember exchanging homemade fudge between the branch libraries in a semi-competitive attempt to see who made the best fudge. Was this Fiona T’s brain child? Kiera and I are reinstating this library fudge creation/eating extravaganza in an effort to ward off the winter blues.

APA for Early Childhood te reo Māori rerenga kōrero and waiata brochures

We are getting a few questions asking how to reference  a set of newly published brochures on the Ako Aotearoa website. RESOURCE SET | Te reo Māori rerenga kōrero and waiata » Ako Aotearoa

John created an exemplar for this and it can now be found on the Education subject guide ‘Frequently cited’ page. Thanks John, it is appreciated.

Referencing education resources

We have been getting lots of requests to check the referencing for Ministry of Education document: Tapasā: Cultural competencies framework for teachers of Pacific learners.

After John A checked ( and corrected) my draft, I have uploaded the exemplar for this to the ‘Frequently cited’ box on the Education subject guide.

Karakia Tuesday mornings 9am

The Education Subject Librarians and Jess are getting back into the habit of going to karakia on Tuesday mornings. It is lead by Te Hurinui Clarke, with guitar in hand. There is a song booklet that can be accessed on your phone ( well not on mine, sigh) via a QR code that we can give you. If anyone is interested in joining us, it kicks off at 9am in the foyer of Rehua.  A couple of songs, a karakia and you are good to go for the rest of the day.

Book giveaway

The Children’s book giveaway starts today and runs for the week. It is in Room 224. Please be aware that there are a couple of times when the room will be closed off for teaching. Signage will be in place at these times.  Punters will have to wait until the teaching has finished to access the room.

Fingers crossed that the books will fly off the tables…..because the left-overs will be flying into the skip.

Books on L5 by Totora

I have been weeding the classroom collection (non-fiction children’s books) over the summer. The withdrawn titles are progressively being plonked on the floor on L5. Thanks to all the folk in ELS who are doing much of the mahi. Also in the fray are some CD’s,  DVD’s and posters. This is a reminder to everyone that you are free to come and fossick.
