Aoraki LIANZA Quiz Night and AGM

Put this in your calendar now! This year Aoraki LIANZA is combining our most popular event with our least popular event to create one great night out.

When: 6.30 p.m. Friday 3rd of July 2009 ( quiz will follow approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of the AGM).
Where: The Whare Kai at the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT).

Nominations are called for positions on the 2009/2010 LIANZA Aoraki Regional Committee. The committee period is one year. Nomination forms and more info can be found on the LIANZA website

The Quiz night theme this year is Stars in their Eyes – come as your favourite musical performer. Register your team of four with me ($5 for LIANZA members, $10 for non-members) by Friday 26 June. As usual, a prize for best team name.

Nibbles will be provided, and there will be a cash bar.

Please contact me if you have any questions, or you are interested in being on the committee.

LIANZA Aoraki’s “Aotearoa People’s Network” event is on this Saturday (16 May). It’s at Amberley Public Library and begins at 10am.
Margaret Garland (APN) and Justine Lester (Hurunui District Libraries) will discuss APN and how it works in the community.
Lunch afterwards will be at the Norwester Café, Amberley.

So don’t delay – RSVP today to erin.kimber@canterbury.ac.nz – and let me know if you would like to carpool to get out there.

Conference Prep and Presentation Skills Session

Just a reminder about the upcoming Aoraki LIANZA conference preparation session. Sally Thompson, Aurelia Arona and Nicki Moen will share their experiences of delivering a conference paper, from preparing an abstract to standing up in front of the crowd. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the process.

Guy Field and Lyn McLeod will also be there to update us on this year’s LIANZA Conference plans, and what they are looking for in an abstract.

Attending does not mean you have to deliver a paper this year!

6 p.m. Wednesday 29 April – CPIT (Room L202, upstairs in the Atrium, above the Library)

Free and open to everyone. Drinks and nibbles will be supplied.

Any questions – contact me.
