Makerspace Volunteers

Kia ora koutou

Will Brian H. abandoning us and Brian M. taking the Resource Discovery Manager position and Nick being on parental leave, the Makerspace team is a few members short at the moment. However, that means YOU have the amazing opportunity to join the team! We have all the best toys, and get to plan fabulous events like our very successful Crafternoon.

If you’re interested, please contact Lyndsay.

Soup Day is Tomorrow!

Just a reminder to everyone who has signed up for Soup Day that the big day is tomorrow! There’s also still time to sign up if you’re keen.

Please remember to email me a copy of the recipe for our special soup edition of Pānui and also print out a copy of either the recipe, or the ingredients so people with allergies can make good choices!

If you’re bringing in a crock pot to keep your soup warm, it can be plugged in in the breakout space on Level 5, adjacent to the tea room.

UCLibrary: Now on Spotify

Kia ora koutou

I saw this article on Twitter yesterday morning, and instantly thought that creating Spotify study playlists for our students was basically the coolest idea ever. As such, I’ve created a Spotify account for the library, and am going to make one or two playlists to promote to students via Facebook.

What will make this really good though is if we can get a bunch of people to create playlists -our students will have diverse tastes in music, and we do too!

I’m planning to create a cinematic/movie score song playlist, a chill indie rock type playlist. If you know any songs that should be included on these, comment below or send me an email.

If you want to create your own playlist (themes could be anything from book/literary related songs/songs to help you get stuff done/songs to listen to in the Eng Core/best Māori songs to study to etc.) I can either give you our account details or just send me a list of songs and I can make the playlist happen.

If you have any questions, please email me or the Marketing team.

First Annual End of Winter Library Soup Day

Last month Theresa found a blog post where the author talked about her workplace’s annual soup day. She sent the article to a few of us, and we too thought that soup day sounded like an excellent idea.

Who: Everyone!

When: Thursday 30 August 2018 from 12:00-1:00

What: First Annual End of Winter Library Soup Day

Where: Break-out space next to Central tea room (Level 5)

How to participate: Bring soup in a crockpot, or some bread and try all the different soups that people bring in! Also, BYO bowl/soup receptacle .

You don’t have to bring anything to attend, but we do want to try and make sure we have enough food for everyone.

If you’re interested in bringing soup and/or bread, please sign up here and let us know what you’ll be bringing. If we can avoid having duplicates of types of soup that would be great.

If you have any questions please comment below or contact Kiera, Elizabeth, Theresa or Hugh!

July Pānui

We decided to wait to post July’s issue of Pānui until a Friday, because everyone needs something fun to help get them through the day. It certainly wasn’t because we didn’t have the issue finished on Wednesday. Definitely not.
