Permanent, Full-Time Library Assistant Vacancy, Interloans

Applications are invited for a full-time Library Assistant position, working within the Interloans team, based in the Central Library.

You will be responsible for providing interloan, lending and other public services for the University Library. Although this position is based in the Central Library there is an expectation that you will be available to work in any of the libraries on campus.

A minimum of two years work experience in a Library, office or customer service environment is required.

The normal work schedule for this position is as follows:

Continuing, Full-Time Law Library Information Librarian Vacancy

Applications are invited for the position of Information Librarian at the University of Canterbury. The successful candidate will provide public services and specialist support to students and academic staff in the Law Library. The role will also involve promoting effective use of the library and teaching the skills required for users to become information literate. Although based in the Law Library, the appointee may be required to work in other locations in the University Library from time to time.

You will have a professional library qualification, a University degree, experience working within a tertiary library, along with experience and skills in information retrieval and information technologies. In addition you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including being fully committed to working in a team and to providing a high standard of customer service to staff and students. Experience in supervising staff and coordinating workflows would also be desirable, as would experience in collection management. As this position works within a team covering legal and government information, a demonstrable track record of familiarity with and interest in the subject matter of law and public administration and their associated literatures is highly desirable.

The hours of work for this position are 37.5 hours per week, worked between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, as negotiated. There are also requirements for minor variations in hours around final exams, and for half-day Saturday rostering over the summer.
