Vacancy – Fixed Term Applications Support Librarian in Library IT

Fixed Term August 2010 – February 2011
Part Time – 21 hours per week

Applications are invited for a fixed term position in the Library IT Team of the Central Library at the University of Canterbury. This position will be responsible to investigate, develop and implement the wide range of IT applications being developed for Library use, and to provide management and support for those applications.

The successful applicant will need to have a Masters degree in Librarianship and Information Skills (MLIS) or an equivalent degree in Management of Information Techonology.

Although based in the Central Library, the successful candidate may also be required to work in other locations in the University Library from time to time.

The successful applicant will have a detailed understanding of use of IT within the library sector and experience in integrating a diverse range of applications. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and will be fully committed to client service and to working as part of a team. Knowledge of Library Management Systems and MARC is preferred.

The normal work schedule for this position is negotiable between the hours of 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Please note that this work will be paid on a Casual Contract at $15.00 per hour with 8% holiday pay paid on an as-you-go basis.
