Online access for students to course reading materials

A lot of work has gone on this year to improve online access for students to course reading materials. This post gives an update on this work and some context for the workshops that Liaison Librarians are delivering to academic staff during study week on Best practice for online access to course reading material. Workshops have been held for the College of Education this week and will be held next week for the other 4 colleges. Please encourage academic staff to come along – they can book online.

A paper was presented to the UC Learning and Teaching Committee in February outlining the high risk of copyright infringement that currently exists due to inappropriate linking to Library electronic resources in online courses and the need to improve online access to course readings for students. The paper made recommendations which emphasised the need to make it easier for academic staff to provide specific and detailed links to online course reading materials.
