*** Update – the restart didn’t fix the issue. Issue occurs when clicking on a search result to get to item record. Record loads but will take over a minute. We’ll work with SirsiDynix to work out what is going on – Romy***
There have been several reports of slow catalogue searching – we’re not sure of the cause but because there will be several teaching sessions using it after 11, I’m going to restart it now in the hope that will help. It should be up and running again by 10.00.
Next Wednesday at 2pm in Kauri, via an online webinar, there is a chance to hear Marshall Breeding present the results of the 2019 edition of his annual Library Automation Perceptions survey. The survey gathers data from libraries evaluating the library resource management systems they use, the organizations that develop or support them, and to gauge interest in migrating to new systems and interest in open source.
We have responded to this annual survey for many years.
ITS have released a bunch of security and other upgrades. These will install the first time you login after Friday. You can save yourself some time by starting these before going home. Go to the Software Center. On the left hand side, click upgrades then on the top right, ‘Install All’.
Log off but leave your machine running and it should complete installation over-night.
Next Thursday, 5th December, the UC eftpos facilities will be upgraded. This will start at 7 am and should be finished by 9 am.
During that time there will be no online Eftpost facilities, nor will the Eftpos reload machines work. If anybody clicks on one of the online links (e.g. topup) they will see a web page explaining what is happening.
If so, this is to ask that you be good housekeepers and remove files no longer needed. This is because usage is about to increase and it may get a bit mucky.
The follow-me printing set-up reduces some of the scanning options available, so Interloans will now be scanning to U:\Bulk\SpecialProjects\Library.
Most of us won’t notice – but the Internet Enabler software that runs on our PCs to provide internet access is being retired tonight and we’ll have access without it.
Last night ITS, at short notice, needed to put security patches on a lot of servers. There have been some issues arising from that and the Wiki seems to be one. Currently Camelot is not available, and I don’t at this stage have an indication of how long it will take to fix.
