Retirement plans

I would just like to let you all know that I will be retiring on the 30th April 2010. The decision has been assisted and the date determined by the news that my daughter in London is having her first baby mid May next year, and my wish to be freer to travel. Plenty of time left to say ‘goodbye’!!. Janice

One ticket Roger Hall’s “Four Flat whites in Italy” Sat. 10th October

I have one ticket to the very popular, season extended, Roger Hall play at The Court Theatre for this Satuerday 10th October 7.30pm start; as a friend has cancelled out due to illness. This single ticket was purchased at a different time to my group and is on the side towards the front. The cost is $35.00. Please contact me asap if you are interested. Janice Farrelly 8722

Changes to setup at the Central Library Lending CKO desk

The monitor stand at the first workstation (as you enter the CKO area from the foyer) has been lowered.

This action has been taken in response to concerns raised by staff working in this area.

The lowering of the stand now enables staff to work ‘safely’ in either a seated or standing position. ‘Safe’ in this context is when looking straight ahead at the monitor your eyes are level with the top of the screen. The monitor at this workstation can be raised or lowered to achieve that criteria.

PLEASE TRIAL THIS WORKSTATION.

Additional workstations at this service desk will be modified if that is the wish of staff who work there.

PLEASE ADD A COMMENT TO THIS POSTING OR email your comments to Janice Farrelly.

Thank you, Janice

Sorry please disregard “Interloan staff will no longer scan requests for copies/loans to your library Outlook inbox”

I did not realise that the current problem is a temporary one and is unlikely to recur.

I apologise for the confusion and am happy to say that once this current problem is resolved we will revert to established practices.

In the interim we will request from you by typed emails – that way you will still only have to check one source for our requests to you.

Thanks to Library IT for clarifying the situation.

Interloan staff will no longer scan requests for copies/loans to your library Outlook inbox

Over the weekend Interloans discovered there is a problem with scanning to Outlook addresses. Backlogs can build up and it may take several days for these scanned items to turn up in an inbox. We cannot take the chance of this happening, or spend the time monitoring to see if this a problems.

I propose that the Interloan requests we send to you, to either scan a copy to the ‘I’ drive (and there are no problems doing that apparantly), or to send an item to us in the Hamper (theses etc. that we have not been able to request from you through IBDS), are now sent through to your Fax. machine.

This would mean:
– that your Fax machine would need to be regularly monitored
– that communication back to us about a request could be by regular email but would be best by return fax. with comments noted on the original request sent to you by fax. Our internal fax number is: 6898

Could you please all email me to confirm that this arrangement is acceptable; giving me your fax number?

Until I have your fax number we will have to request from you by sending a regular email to your workroom email account.

MB – this will not suit you as your fax machine is downstairs. Regular emails will have to be used by both of us.

Look forward to hearing from you all soon. Thanks.

Staff requesting Interloans for binding/repair/replacement of items in our Library Collection.

Please give Interloan staff complete bibliographic and additional information: the ISBN for example as this could be the difference to a paperback or hardback being supplied; actual edition/year of publication etc. Also please note in the “additional information” field: required for binding purposes (or other relevant information). We especially need to know this if requesting copies of pages only as then the supplying library will supply them as originals in size, double-sided, large margins etc. Thanks.
