2008 Interloans Reports for Collection Development 2008 on K drive

The Master Copies of these ‘copy’ and ‘loan’ requests for our users on the K drive have been changed by someone. I will reload new complete copies of these 2 reports so if the person that changed the current reports would like to move them to their own folder please do so now. I will reload the originals on 15th June – removing the current reports if they are still there.

And a reminder to all staff working with these reports: PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THEM. Take a copy and then edit, reformat…to your heart’s content leaving the Masters as they are for all to use in the same way.

Thank you – Janice

Renewal requests for Interloans

Please note that when a user wishes to renew an Interloan the actual item must NOT be returned.

Interloan staff will renew the item on Horizon and then contact the lending library. There is often a delay before the lending library responds and the user can continue to use the Interloan until the lending library requires it back. Interloan staff will communicate with the user if a renewal request is not granted.

There have been several instances recently where users have returned Interloans and then requested a renewal – but it was too late as they were already on their way back to the lending library.

Reference Only Interloans in Central Library

Reminder to all desk staff. The papers to remove and place in the tray on the reference only Hold Shelf when handing a reference only Interloan to a user are the loose ones – not the red slip attached to the back page of the item. The loose pages are a white A4 page folded in half with a red hold marker stapled to it. On return of the item place the loose page/hold marker in the item and reshelve it. Many thanks, Interloans Team

Collection Development. The reports for 2008 Interloan Requests are now available.

Reports of all items requested on Interloan by our users are a valuable source of information.

Each year two reports are presented to support collection development – loan by title of monograph, and copy by title of the journal/conference that the paper requested was published in.

The number of times a title has been requested is also recorded, and by whom; both details provided to further inform collection development decisions.

The reports are in Excel format and can be manipulated/sorted to meet your needs.

If you plan to work on a report please take a copy for your purposes and leave the master copy intact on the K drive – the reports can be found @:

Lost Book – Die Pastorale : Studien zur Geschichte eines musikalischen Topos

Lost University of Canterbury book (Bib# 154321). This was returned from Interloan and was received by the University Mailroom on the morning of 12th March – last Thursday. Mailroom staff are confident that it would have been delivered to Level 1 of the Central Library that same morning. Interloans staff have checked the hamper room area with a resonable search of Collections Services shelves; also CKI on Level 2 and Level 6 where the item belongs (ML 160.J95). Could you all please look around your work areas in case it has turned up there somehow. This University of Canterbury holding is an 1980 German thesis and is a unique holding in New Zealand. Many thanks. JF
