Resolved: Interloans/OCLC login problem

***UPDATE 1pm – the issues with OCLC/Interloans account login should now be resolved ***

***UPDATE 25/9 am – IT have reverted the change for now to restore access for Interloans staff etc. but we may have to change back again later today to work with OCLC tech support – rnf19 ***

IT have switched to a new security certificate for OCLC today – for the Interloans account login.  Unfortunately this hasn’t gone smoothly (there was a change OCLC made that doesn’t seem to be working) and users will either get the error message below or get stuck in a loop in the browser after they enter their credentials.

An error occurred on the MetaAuthentication System

Details:

No Single Sign-On request could be found.

The error message above can usually be resolved by clearing browser cookies but at the moment if users do that they will get caught in the loop anyway.

We’ve reported the issue to OCLC technical support and hope it will be resolved soon.

Windows Updates – recommend log off but leave computers on on Friday

Kia ora koutou

ITS have sent through a reminder about Windows Updates that will be installed after 10pm this Friday.  As usual they’re recommending staff log off but leave their computers on when they leave work on Friday.

Staff and postgraduates with Windows PCs using SCCM will have the updates available in software centre from 6pm Friday 18 September.  The updates will install automatically after 10pm Friday 25 September and a restart will be enforced during the update process.
If a computer is off or in sleep mode overnight, updates will be installed the next time the computer is powered on.

In order to ensure Windows computers patch smoothly, we recommend staff and postgraduates log out of their computers when they finish work for the week.

Update on Gartner login problems – still ongoing

Unfortunately we haven’t yet been able to resolve the problem with the Gartner database login.

It is now in several different hands – Gartner technical support,  our IT server team and the contact at IT who manages the subscription (Gartner is purchased by ITS).
Still hoping it can be resolved soon, but presently seems to be at a bit of a stalemate.

Gartner database login issues

Kia ora koutou

The Gartner database is affected by the same problem we had yesterday with the Interloans system and Lexis Advance logins.  Users will get a “Single sign-on authentication was unsuccessful” error message once they’ve entered their credentials into the UC blue screen login form.

We are following up with IT and the vendors and will hopefully get the problem fixed soon.
