I noticed this morning that the remote control for the new screen in Room 224 PJH is missing. It should be in the bag with the cable in the cupboard behind the information desk. If you have seen it, could you please let me know as a matter of urgency? I am having to rely on pushing the on button with my finger, which is just too old fashioned.
We have a new cohort of students who are studying offshore, but are not enrolled as distance students. These are students who are unable to enter NZ due to the border restrictions. We have a process to provide these students with the resources they need for their study, so if you get requests for materials, could you please refer them to the subject librarians, or to me.
I need a “computer to display screen” connector as illustrated below:
I can order a new one, but wondered if anyone has one lying about that they don’t need. If so, please let me know so I can save the University’s resources.
Room 224 in Puaka James Hight (previously the High Demand/Holds room) is now sporting a large screen for the purposes of teaching. I am guessing the room will take around 30-40 students, but haven’t tested the capacity.
Happy 2021 to you all. We all looking forward to less COVID-19 this year but until the vaccine kicks in and the world calms, I would like to ask you all to stay ready in case we need to move through the alert levels again. Give some thought to what you need to take from here to be able to work from home at short notice, and speak with your manager about work that can be done from home, as well as any issues you had last time.
I keep the list below by my desk to remind me of the key equipment I need.
If you have any questions or concerns, please come and have a chat to me or speak to your manager.
I foolishly booked tickets then remembered a prior engagement. I would be happy to sell these tickets for $30 for both. Let me know if you are interested.
Since then, a group of kaimahi from the Library have been working to clarify how these guidelines will be applied in our context to ensure a consistent approach across the teams.
Our supplementary guidelines are now available here:
If you are interested in exploring your options for working from home as part of your regular work pattern, have a look at these documents and contact your manager to discuss.
If you have any questions about the guidelines, please let me know.
It is the last week of the Australasian University 10, 000 steps health challenge. We have until 11.59pm on Monday 12th October to upload our steps, with the winners of the challenge to be announced on Tuesday 13th October.
Don’t forget to enter your backlog of steps if you’ve forgotten. No matter how many steps you’ve taken it will help the overall results.
UC is currently placed 7th out of the 18 universities entered.
We are a group of keen walkers! The UC Library has one team of 20 already and I have started a second team. If you are keen to join the challenge, it isn’t too late. Go to this page on Firefox or MS Edge, scroll down and choose the UC team: https://www.10000steps.org.au/health-challenges/2020-auhc/
Then follow the instructions to sign up. When you have confirmed your email address, let me know and I’ll add you to the Library team.
All steps are good steps, whether or not you reach 10,000 a day.
