Monday Meditation

Kia ora folks,

Just a reminder that at 12 and 12.30 on Mondays during term time there’s a chance to take a break and meditate in room 210 – it’s run by the Rec Centre but it’s not just for students. Felicity and I have been going and found it very helpful to get into a better head-space. It’s free too. So please feel free to join us next Monday – we do the 12.30 slot.

A chance for fame and fortune!

Okay, maybe there’s zero chance of fortune, and only limited fame on offer, but this is an opportunity for you to submit content to the next issue of Pānui – which is almost as good as fame and fortune, honestly.

Firstly, we want your baby photo – just email it in to one of the editors and it will be included in our guess-whose-baby-picture-belongs-to-whom competition (okay, might need to work on a better title). The person with the most correct answers will win a prize!

Secondly, we want to read about your Easter hols. What did you get up to? A short piece (up to 200 words max) and plenty of photos to make us envious.

We all look forward to hearing from you! Cheers!

For Those Who Like to Read…

… about collection development in modern academic libraries.

Library collection development for professional programs: trends and best practices

Sue’s News

Kia ora everybody, here’s a wee note from Sue Thompson about the addition of a miniature librarian to her life:

“Olive is here at last, arriving on the 17th October late at night, howling and screaming.   She’s got a good set of lungs!  Lesson : don’t judge one baby by the last – Lily was calm and silent, this one not so much.  We’ve been waited on hand and foot, drinking the legendary cold milos with ice cream at St George’s, and now at home learning Olive’s routine.  Have attached a couple of pics [see next issue of Pānui] and there are various others floating about on Facebook for anyone wanting a look – although one baby photo does tend to look like another!

We’ll try popping in to visit in the next few weeks – I hope everything is going well for everyone and that Linda’s settled in too!  Best, Sue”

The Pumpkins Are Coming

Kia ora folks,

Just a reminder of your opportunity to hone your inner artist via the medium of pumpkins (or vegetable/fruit of choice).

Where: Puaka – James Hight Building, Level 5. Staffroom (if raining) or patio (if fine)

When: 10am to 11am, 26th October

What: bring your pumpkin or pumpkins (or turnips, grapefruit, whatever takes your fancy) and some sharp knives. Small knives with serrated edges seemed to work best (steak knives).

Pumpkin Carving Time!

Kia ora folks,

Back due to popular demand, we’ve decided to sharpen our creativity (and knives) and create some pumpkin art! Create traditional jack-o’-lanterns or something that more reflects you and your artistic energy. Whatever your carving pleasure, please feel free to join us – and your art will photographed and preserved in the next issue of Pānui.

If you can’t join us, we hope you’ll carve one at home or arrange a gathering at your library for like-minded folk. But please email us some pics to share in Pānui, we’d love to see and share them with everyone!
