The Linking & Copyright page the library maintains for course owners linking to e-resources on LEARN has been changed slightly. Course owners can still use the link stabilizing tool to create stable links to upload to LEARN. Or, they can use the permalink to the search result in Multisearch, if it is indexed there.

Interloans logging in
If you’re helping a student at your computer or front desk to place an interloan, a wee reminder the interloans software may auto-login with the computer’s login instead of the student’s. We advise using a different browser, clearing the cache or opening in an incognito window. As long as you see the screen below, the student will be able to login, meaning they’ll be able to track their own request, receive notifications, and download any interloans delivered themselves. We’re always happy to pop down to the desk to help too, extn 93399.

Emergency procedures flip chart
The Access & Collections team have been quizzing each other in our meetings, about what to do in different emergency scenarios. Do you know what to do if there’s a gas leak, weather event, or power outage? Consult the handy Emergency Procedures flip chart hanging in your workspace, or check out the Emergency Procedures page. The flip chart is also being updated and a new version will be released sometime this year.
Recent visit from Lincoln Interloans
On Monday Jonas Bong, visited the interloans team to learn some of our processes and share his own experiences using WorldShare, the system most of New Zealand uses. We enjoyed having him and the conversations went on many tangents, there’s always something to learn! Jonas replaces Jan Thompson as the new interloans contact at Lincoln University.
Even Maggie Barry uses interloans
We recently worked with the Parliamentary Library to track down a book on dying that was so overdue it was deemed lost. Turns out it was used by Hon Maggie Barry MP for the End of Life Choice Bill, a topic often hotly debated in our media.
Using the new Interloans system
The new interloans system requires patrons to log in to place request themselves – and we’re not able to easily do this for them as they would still need to set up their own password.
The customer service benefits to the patron are being able to check on their status, view request history, download articles when they arrive, and request renewals online. There is a red ‘Create Request’ button for patrons not requesting via a link resolver from multisearch or UC database.
If you do find patrons reporting trouble logging in for the first time, check they are using the abc12@canterbury.ac.nz format to log in, followed by their normal IT password. They also try using different browsers or a different device – or just let either Interloans or e-services know so we can help.
Interloans requesting disabled from 5pm today
Just a reminder that patrons won’t be able to place new interloan requests from 5pm today, while we move to our new system. They will still be able to log into their ‘old’ accounts to view their requests.
From Tuesday 4th, the Interloans Service Account link on our service page and links to the form from multisearch and UC databases, will direct patrons to the new system.
Second interloans demo
The new interloans system will also be demonstrated for staff in EPS this coming Tuesday the 4th at 9.30am. There are four seats left for anyone interested in this session, instead of today’s in the Den at 1.30pm.
Demo of new interloans system
Kia ora koutou
There’ll be a short demo for library staff of the new interloans system, Tipasa, this Thursday 29th, at 1.30pm, in the Den.
If you can’t make it, you can view a 4-5 minute demo I’ve made :

Do also get in touch if you have specific questions or would like me to come to you separately (extn 93908).

Interloans patron portal is down
The interloans patron portal is not connecting currently, so students and staff won’t be able to place or view requests. We’ve alerted OCLC, and hope to have this resolved asap.
If students and staff have any questions they can get in touch with us at interloans@libr.canterbury.ac.nz or phone 3693399 / 93399, many thanks
