I have done a BEIMs request asking for the emergency light in the Law Basement to be fixed as it is not working. Caroline Anderson.

Storage Request Report
This is a friendly reminder for those involved in actioning the Horizon Storage Request Reports to please not stay in the report any longer than necessary. While you are in the report no-one else can get in and this causes delays. Thank you. Caroline Anderson.
Law Basement shelving
Today there are a number of items for shelving sitting next to the PC inside the cage. Some of them appear to have quite old in-transit dates. Does anyone know why they are sitting next to the PC instead of on the tables near the lifts? Why are there so many old ones? I am happy to check them in and shelve them but first I thought I should find out if someone has put them there for a reason. Law Basement shelving should usually be left on the tables near the lifts, (to make it easy for shelvers to check for daily shelving), rather than placed next to the PC inside the cage. Victoria University Library’s Ask a Librarian Service
I like the clarity of the information regarding the Ask a Librarian service at the Library at Victoria University of Wellington. See link below if interested:

Date format in Horizon has *not* changed (edited)
I noticed yesterday that the format of dates in Horizon has changed. Instead of, for example, 01/04/2009, the date read as 2009/04/01 on the Checkin History for an item. I also noticed that when creating a Title Record in the Reserve Bookroom in order to place an item on Restricted Loan, the withdrawal date field demanded a date format of 2009/11/30 instead of the usual 30/11/2009. I thought I should mention this as I don’t recall reading about it in advance, but perhaps I overlooked something earlier which was intended to let us know about this change. Caroline Anderson.
Podcasts for Library tours – a suggestion
May I suggest we consider podcasts for Library tours?
Angela Jowitt has done some research about the use of podcasts for library instruction at UCOL (Universal College of Learning).
It is available via this link:http://www.coda.ac.nz/ucol_ss_di/1/

Blue bags
If anyone has a stockpile of blue bags (or a couple of bags) that they can spare, please send them to the Law Library. Thank you in advance. Caroline Anderson.
Law Basement Torches
There are now eight torches in the Law Library Basement. Three torches are on the desk opposite the lifts, two are near the PC (inside the cage) and I have put one torch at each end of the shelves on the far wall (the wall opposite the cage entrance), and one torch on top of the cabinet near the Law collection. There are spare batteries next to the torches near the lifts and a spare battery with the ones beside the PC. If you use the Law Basement, please familiarise yourself with the location of the torches (especially the ones I have put inside the cage on the shelves, etc.) and please return them to their correct place after using them. This way it is hoped that there will always be enough torches which can be located easily in an emergency (e.g. if all the lights go out). If you notice that a battery has run out please make sure that it is replaced. Thank you. Caroline Anderson.
Hamper items for Law Basement
When sending items destined for the Law Basement, please do not put them in a Law Library hamper. Please put Law Basement items in a blue bag marked Law Basement, (or place them in a hamper marked Law Basement if there are too many items for a blue bag). The reason for this is that items destined for the Law Basement should not be coming to the Law Library, which is what happens if they are put in a Law Library hamper. This results in double handling and delays in items reaching the Law Basement. Thank you very much. Caroline Anderson.
