Westlaw International has been playing up for the last week and giving an error message that says:
All of the available seats are currently in use. If you have a user name and password, sign in.
BUT it requires a TR/Westlaw login which only a few staff members have (until we sort out SAML authentication for everyone).
So… students won’t be able to access Westlaw International if anyone else is using it at the same time.
If you get any questions can you please refer them to John or I and we will see if we can find what they are looking after.
Thanks

We have hit the 325-day limit for our electronic access to Criminal Justice: A New Zealand Introduction on ProQuest. This means there is no longer an option to download either the whole book or particular chapters of the book.
It means students will now be limited to a five minute session each and every time they look at the textbook from now until September (when the restrictions will cease and well after the final exam!).
This is the textbook for CRJU101 and in the most terrible timing the exam is TOMORROW!!!
So I have scanned the two chapters the lecturer thinks they will need for their open-book take home exam and placed them on Learn. I have also emailed the whole class of 300 students to let them know.
If you get any student questions or feedback can you please send it my way.
Thanks so much
Theresa

The lovely 400-odd LAWS110 students have their 2nd essay due this Friday at 12 noon.
The essay questions is ” Explain the reasons why Parliament is sovereign in New Zealand. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of parliamentary sovereignty” in 1500 words. They must use the New Zealand Law Style Guide (NZLSG) and include a bibliography (the bibliography isn’t included in the word count).
There is a lot of information on the LAWS110 Learn site for students including:
I have been really hopeless at being on AskLive while on lock down but will try my best to be on there as much as I can this week in anticipation of nervous students.
The key questions I think we may get on AskLive (in case I am not on) are:
Any questions please just send them to John, Kim or I and we will take over.
Thanks so much and have a good week!

I (Theresa) have completely redeveloped the voluntary legal research classes that John, Kim and I (along with Sara in the past) have previously taught face to face.
This course is now completely online and I want to share with you all my learnings along with my thoughts on what I can do better next time.
I’m running a staff development session at 11am on Tuesday April 7th 2020 in Poutama. Come along to hear me talk and ask me questions which I’ll try my best to answer 🙂
