A reminder that Nicola Giles will be visiting us this week to go over Ebsco platform changes and enhancements. Please read her session description below.
Dave Clemens
Time: 9.30 – 11 a.m.
Venue: Room 207 College of Education Library.
“A training session on EBSCOhost takes 60 – 90 minutes (depending on questions) – and the session provides refresher training, and also covers new/upcoming features to the platform (such as the iPhone App; and eBooks on EBSCOhost). It would be good to go over the EBSCOhost platform with your library staff – and provide the opportunity for attendees to provide feedback and suggestions”
As part of the preparation for recent e-book sessions held by the library I have compiled (using EndNote) a bibliography of studies related to e-book use in the higher education environment.
I’ve now saved that file here for anyone curious to take a look.
I have indicated with an * the studies that I found particularly informative or interesting, although that’s just my own personal preference. I’ve also restricted my search to studies published since 2007.
The following info has been e-mailed from the ICT Help Desk.

‘The database used by CSGold, which holds student Canterbury card balances, needs to be upgraded before CSGold itself is upgraded.
The database upgrade will take about 2 hours, and will occur between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday 23rd August. EFTPOS stations, photocopier card-readers, and StudentWeb online fees payments and Canterbury card topups will be out-of-order/offline during the upgrade’

The inbox for helpdesk@libr.canterbury.ac.nz is getting a little busy with queries, which is fine as we have people assigned to answer these.
If you have answered a request please remember to move it from the Inbox into another folder, rather than have someone else try to work out if it has been dealt with.
I appear to have locked up the roster document and am unable to rectify that at present, or even to delete it, so have created a copy in the same folder that I hope will be accessible to all. Sorry about that!
The Evansdale cheese rep popped in the other day with an order form for their Christmas offerings. I have pinned that up on the staff room notice board.
