2. 214 I & J use changed and these are now designated for IT Help consultations. Completed – IT to install furniture for start of Semester 1. IT will move from the info desk after the first two weeks and be based in the 214 rooms.  They will also have 2x self-service kiosks in the 214 waiting area.
3. 214 K & L will be used for Ako Ātea – 2x consultation rooms for subject librarians to use. Completed – these are now operational.
4. The main doors to 214 will be removed to open up the space and increase visibility. Completed – in addition, the main doors to 212 discussion rooms have also been removed. In progress

Andy Johnson has been appointed as Makerspace Facilitator with a start date of 23 March 2020.  Andy is a teacher, currently at Hagley College teaching Animation and Design.  He also has a strong background in films and marketing and describes himself as a ‘people person’.  He is excited about this position and joining UC library.

Gavin’s last working day is this Friday so with his blessing, a fairly relaxed shared morning tea is planned.  Please bring a plate of goodies to share, from 10.00am in the Customer Services workroom, PJH. All welcome 🙂

Gavin has tendered his resignation and this has been accepted. He has received an opportunity to good not to accept, which enables him to work closer to home and family. Gavin has been fantastic in the role and we wish him every success with his new role.

Gavin’s last working day will be 17 January 2020.  A morning tea will be arranged in due course and all are welcome.

The MakerSpace Facilitator role is expected to be advertised soon and we hope to make an appointment in January.

We are delighted to share that Gavin Hewitt has been appointed in the continuing full time position of Makerspace Facilitator, with a start date of Thursday 5 December 2019. We look forward to building on the progress made with the pilot makerspace project as we transition into a larger fit for purpose space for creative interdisciplinary learning.

Work to transform Te Rua Makerspace on PJH level 2 is expected to start soon.  This transformation aims to create a larger, fit for purpose makerspace over the summer so this means some reshuffling of equipment and furniture.  We will also start decanting the self-loan/high demand area.

Please be aware of these changes that are going on, and if you have bookings in the Den within the next two weeks, these may be affected.
