Joe’s secondment

Kia ora koutou

I’m pleased to announce Joe’s secondment to the Kaitoko (Te Pātaka) | Student Advisor (Hub).

He starts part-time in the new role from next week then full-time from 27 June. It is anticipated that the secondment will end on 16 November 2022, when he will return to his current position of Library Assistant.

It’s sad to see him go so soon after he joined ELS team, but it’ll be great to continue working closely with him in the wider Te Pātaka team.

I’m preparing for a recruitment round to fill his position.

With mid-year exams coming up, you may get enquiries from students on discussion room bookings.

Although students may use our discussion rooms to sit exams, these rooms are primarily provided for group work and discussion, as specified on the room bookings page.

For students looking for a quiet room to take online exam, they should be referred to https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/study/examinations/exam-dates-rooms-and-timetables/.

Hui is a familiar face for ELS team, currently working part-time, AYO.

Her strong work ethics, excellence in customer services, passion in makerspace, and application of Ngā Uara in her day to day role have been exemplary.

With a heavy heart, I’m announcing that Sue’s retiring for personal reasons. She’s on leave til her last day on 24th March.

However, Sue would like to remain as a casual staff, so I’m sure we’ll still see her around!

She’d like to say thank you to everyone who formed a friendship over the 22 years she worked in the library.
