New appointment

We’re excited to share the appointment of two full-time, continuing Kaiāwhina | Assistant Librarian roles in Engagement and Learning Support team.

Kaiāwhina | Assistant Librarian – Learning

Dale Wang brings extensive library experience, strong bicultural commitment, and administrative management background overseeing Makerspace, IT, venue co-ordination, property, communications and report writing.

Kaiāwhina | Assistant Librarian – Engagement

Isabella Stainthorpe builds on her Tuakana Māori, President of BioSOC leadership, student engagement and events/communications experience to bring about co-designed solutions that responds to student feedback to a full time continuing role. Isabella is currently backfilling for Caroline. This consequential fixed term vacancy will be filled with the current round of recruitment for a fixed term Library Assistant, which has been updated and now closes on Sunday 8 August. Both Dale and Isabella start their new roles on Monday 6 September. Congratulations to both.

Kaiāwhina | Library Assistant (Fulltime, Fixed Term) Announcement

We’re excited to inform you that Isabella Stainthorpe has accepted the offer for the role Kaiāwhina | Library Assistant (Fulltime, Fixed Term) in Engagement and Learning Support team. This is Caroline’s backfill while she’s on secondment. Her start date is 6 July 2021 with the end date of 30 April 2022. In the meantime, Isabella’s current hours (Catherine’s backfill) will be filled with casuals. Congratulations, Isabella.

Henry Field retrievals

Henry Field retrievals will increase to three times a week from second semester (Monday, Wednesday & Friday afternoons). Library Collections Assistants will hand over this task to a small team of Assistant Librarian and Library Assistants who work across these three days (Tim, Jane & Hugh).  The frequency of the retrieval will be reviewed at the end of the second semester. Information on UC Wiki has been updated.

Appointment – Kairuruku Wāhi-auaha | Engagement & Learning Librarian

I’m excited to announce Jessica Saul has accepted the job offer for Kairuruku Wāhi-auaha | Engagement & Learning Librarian position.

She’s currently a Teaching Assistant at School of Product Design and a Makerspace Intern at Centre of Entrepreneurship.

She’s a familiar face to Engagement and Learning Support team as she has been also a regular help at our Te Rua Makerspace on casual basis this term.

She’ll come with advanced technical skills and extensive crafting experiences, with a Master’s degree in design innovation from Victoria University.

Her start date is 5 July.

Kaiāwhina | Library Assistant (Part-time, Academic Year Only) Appointment

Kia ora koutou

I’m delighted to announce that Huijun Xia (pronounced Hway-Jeun Shar) has been appointed as Library Assistant (Part-time, Academic Year Only).

Hui, as she prefers to be called, comes from teaching background – Most recently she had been working as Teacher Aide at a local primary school, before graduating from UC with Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning last year.

She also has an +10 years’ experience in tertiary education as ESOL lecturer at a renowned university in China.

Her start date is next Tuesday.

She will go through the induction training for the first two days with Isabella, who is starting at the same time.

Please make her welcome.
