“UC is in the process of developing a UC Wellbeing Strategy for our community. While this is underway the strategy group have identified an opportunity to promote Wellbeing on campus from the 10th to the 14th of October, to align with the NZ Mental Health Awareness Week. This also happens to coincides with the week before exams which can be a stressful time for some… The theme for this week is to connect with nature.
In order to support this initiative please find attached a schedule of events as well as suggestions for activities you may want to engage with in your teams. Please note these are only suggestions so feel free to come up with your own ideas.
On that note it would be great to see what you get up to, so feel free to send your photos to the Health & Safety Shared mailbox“
If you are a First Aider please check the expiry date of your certificate as to keep current all holders need to do a periodic refresher training session.
The security office has in the past refunded money to students who have ended their studies with money left over on their accounts. This will no longer be the case. Students who need refunds should be advised to apply at the Finance Counter at Student Services Centre (Level 1, Matariki)
Most staff will be due for a Health and Safety refresher. This is meant as a reminder of the basic rules of Health and Safety around the Library and campus.
This year the refresher has been designed as an online module that staff will be able to access and do in fifteen minutes. On completion of the module you will be able to record your name and the training list will be updated.
Advice from Shona Van Ee (ICTS) is that the fix that was expected to allow users to top up casual cards at an Eftpos reload station has not been successful. IT are working to fix the problem but the EFTPOS adding machines are not currently able to add money to a casual card.
John from FM will be running the fans in the roof over level 2 for a few minutes this morning, hopefully before 10.00am. This is so that he can try and fix the fan rattle in the SE smoke extractors.
There are about 65 casual cards extant that users are holding and that will now be redundant now that Equitrac has been implemented.
The only way to know the balance of an old card is to check the list (left hand column) provided today to all libraries by Emma de Lacey. Most outstanding balances are less than $10.00 but there are 16 balances over that amount.
If a borrower presents an old casual card please check card number in the left hand column and replace it with a card of the same or slightly more amount.
Cards no. 10-17 (i.e. the higher balances) are at Central and a selection of cards with the smaller balances will be in the hampers tomorrow. There will also be casual cards with no balances to give to those who want to load a bit of photocopying money.
The ICTS department are implementing a new way of printing for students and the publicity, including how to use the new system, has gone out to them via the UC Student blog.
Posters have also been put up and Customer services staff have had training in preparation for the introduction on Monday 29th August. It is anticipated that the implementation will be smooth but there may be unanticipated consequences.
Holders of existing casual cards will be given a replacement card with the same amount of money but these will not be available until the implementation is complete. There are 65 casual cards with outstanding balances but most of them are relatively small amounts.
The usual staff printer queues will work as they have done.
