Print High Demand items with no matched eBook available

A quick follow up to Tim’s post on CounterCulture this Tuesday, if subject librarians have any print high demand items required to support online teaching in semester 2,  but are unable to find matched eBooks,  please send the list to  acquisitions@libr.canterbury.ac.nz by next Thursday (9th April). We will pass them through as a batch to relevant publishers. A Reminder: it’s likely not all the eBooks we requested will be available due to various reasons.

Taylor & Francis (T&F) 2020 Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) eBook program

For the 4th consecutive year in a row, the library is doing a T&F EBA eBook program in 2020. With EBA, our students and staff can access 776  recently published T&F eBooks across a wide range of subjects, about half of them are engineering eBooks published in 2019 from ENGnetBASE. This EBA program will last 12 months. At the end of 2020, based on the usage, we will select and purchase those titles that best support UC’s teaching and research up to the amount we pre-paid.

All the eBooks in the T&F EBA program are DRM free, unlimited, multiuser access. Individual eBook bibliographical records are available in both the Catalogue and MultiSearch.

Springer Education and Computer Science My Collection 2019

My Collection is Springer’s new evidence based model for eBooks. The Library has purchased the Springer Education and Computer Science My Collection 2019 which gives us access to all 2019, 2018 and 2017 Springer ebooks in these 2 subject collections for 12 months by only paying 30% of their 2019 collection price. After 12 months Springer will provide us detailed data usage reports, and we will then select and purchase only the most relevant titles with continuing access rights up to the amount we prepay. This new eBook model should overcome the restrictions of Springer’s current policy of only selling packages and not allowing individual eBook purchases.

All those eBooks (close to 4,900 titles) are DRM free, unlimited, multiuser access. Individual eBook bibliographical records are available in both the Catalogue and MultiSearch.
