This week we have welcomed Fiona back from parental leave to her role as Co-ordinator in the Central Library. We’ve already enjoyed a lunchtime visit from Thomas, who seems to have his Dad under control, and hope they will be back again before long.
We have been advised that the following areas are to be fumigated on Wednesday 24th December 2014:
Macmillan Brown Library
Library Warehouse
Central Library (excluding Level 5)
DB07 Artstore
The chemical used is called Permigas; we have a chemical datasafety sheet for this chemical at K:\LIBR-Library\health_and_safety_HR143\Fumigation\permigas_info;
As there is 12 days between the fumigation and staff returning to work in the buildings I would expect any residues from the fumigation to have dissipated.
As in previous years I would like to arrange to send a small hamper to the UC Warehouse to thank them for their contribution to the operations in the Library. Their continued good nature and willingness to help is very much appreciated. If you would like to contribute a festive edible item I have a collection box in my office, labeled accordingly, so please drop off to there, or alternatively you could put it in the hamper (disguised) addressed to me.
I would like to deliver to them on Wednesday 17th December.
Femi Perumbally, a student at UC, is looking for interview participants to chat with her this afternoon (Tuesday 9th December 3.30-4.00pm at the liaison desk L2 Central Library. She is working with group organizing UC Diversity Week (March 2015) and would like to talk and photograph librarians for this, along the lines of UC Humans.
If you don’t want to be on the UC Humans facebook page just let her know and your contribution will only be used for UC Diversity Week.
Its just a 5 – 10 minute chat on no topic in particular!
Just to let you know that there are 3 workmen from Octef (contractor to FM) in the Central Library today, and possibly tomorrow. They are completing the asbestos register for FM, and getting the paperwork up to date for Puaka James-Hight. They will be moving around all the floors to undertake their work.
We are putting together a Christmas care package for Rosie and her family to be delivered the week of 15th December. If you would like to contribute, there is a basket in Isabel/Sandra’s office, or please send items through the hampers.
All liaison librarians are attending Endnote training from 1.30pm today, and therefore are unavailable for student support. Please can you take any referrals for them by email.
Update: MB Liaison Librarians will be available in AskLive this afternoon to provide support. They have a team meeting 3.00 – 4.00 but will be logged in 1.30 – 3.00.
Many thanks
Isabel
