On Tuesday morning 4 August at the Central Library on Level 2, we will be having some holes drilled into a concrete wall in order to instal a new artwork.
The carpenter is coming in early to get the work done however it may be after 8 am before he starts drilling as they have to set scaffolding up first. The drilling will not take long however it may be disruptive to some staff and customers. Please apologise to customers for any disruption the noise has caused to their use of the library.
The art work will form part of the exhibition by Stone Maka. The exhibition is called FAKA’AHU Contemporary Smoke – which Stone is installing on Tuesday afternoon.
The piece requiring the drill holes is being hung above the microfilm cabinets on Level 2. This area will be cordoned off until Stone has had a chance to instal the artwork and the scaffolding is removed.

The plinth for END DOLL is being lent to SOFA gallery for their display. Staff from the gallery will be collecting the plinth from Central Library level 2 today, so dont panic if you see someone wheeling it out.
Joan has agreed that a television crew can film in the Central Library on Tuesday from 2pm-5pm. They will be accompanying and filming a Tongan student.
This rare and oversize book is on the ARTH 210 reading list. I have linked it to the course list but it’s not on Restricted Loan. Students may consult it in the Special Collections Reading Room. VG
Any personal books returned at the Library are deemed to be Lost Property and should be placed in our Lost Propery box to sent to Security if not claimed by the end of the day.
If you are able to identify the owner (name in book, returned in stack of things all checked out to the same person etc), feel free to add an Alert to their record to say the books have been put in Lost Property, or if time allows, send an email.
Troublesome Books tray is for UC library items with a problem attached. Please don’t clog it up with Lost Property.
Books belonging to other libraries should go in the Interloans tray.
ACIS 211 students are clamouring for the 2009 edition of ‘New Zealand financial accounting’ by Deegan & Samkin. News is we don’t hold it – yet. I’ve put an urgent order thru and will update this posting when it’s available. VG
Dave Wethey a tutor on a photography course for Continuing & Bridging Education will be bringing his six students into the library to take images of the building. They will not be including library users or staff in the pictures. There are dates or times for this to take place – it will depend on the whether but will be sometime over during this week. Any concerns regarding the group please ask to speak with the tutor Dave Wethey.

Hi, we are installing several new artworks in central library levels 2 and 4 this afternoon from 1.30pm. I will try to keep the noise to a minimum, but we will have to do some drilling into concrete, which is never a quiet process.
The artworks had to be delivered early, and are currently in the corridor outisde the mailroom on level 1. Please dont move them. If they are in the way give me a call on extension 8669.
