Permission has been given for a film crew to film in the Central Library today. We do not have details of when. The crew are filming a piece in support of one of UC’s students.

Electric stapler died
In case you are wondering, the Electric Stapler that was by the Ricoh Printers on level 2 fused yesterday – sparks, and blown circuit breakers. The stapler is with the Copy Centre who will have it checked.

Level one work
There will be work going on on level 1 in the bindery tomorrow which may involve welding smell. THe contractors have been asked to keep the windows open to minimise the smell but there may still be some smell that percolates elsewhere.

Concrete cutting in Central Library – Saturday 16 May
As part of the reconstruction of the old Bindery area on Level 1, a large area of concrete is going to be cut and removed.
The work is going to be carried out on this Saturday (16 May), between 7.30am and 11am. It will result in significant noise in the South-east area of Level 2 in particular (adjacent to the Copy Centre), but it will also probably go throughout the entire building.

Plant care – volunteer required
The Central Library Level 2 pot plants require an assistant carer for six weeks while I am away on leave (25-May -3 July). They need watering twice a week: Kim does them once a week, so we need a carer for the other day . It takes about 15 mins. Please see Bronwyn or Kim if you can help.
Thanks,
Bronwyn

Items for Warehouse hamper
Macmillan Brown Library have reported a regular number of Storage location items being sent to MB in their hamper ‘in transit’ from Central Library. They redirect these items to a Warehouse hamper.
They wondered if any Library staff have got the idea that MB and Warehouse are the same thing?
At CKI, please take care to ensure that you have identified whether a Storage item belongs to Warehouse or to Law Basement.
If Warehouse, place in the separate Warehouse hamper, if Law Basement, in a labelled blue satchell in the Law hamper.
If in doubt, ask your Supervisor for help.

Royal Society (Canty Branch) Membership Renewals
Alec Ford, the President of the Royal Society of NZ (Canty), has contacted me to say that an error has been made when printing Royal Society membership renewal receipts resulting in the wrong date showing on the receipt. As Royal Society members need to have up-to-date receipts with them when arranging for Library access, the date has to be corrected. Alec is arranging for replacement receipts to be printed today and these should be in the mail to members tomorrow. This should mean that members will have correct, up-to-date receipts with them when they visit Central Library but in the event that they do not, please advise them that a correct receipt is required by the Library and this is being mailed to them by the Royal Society. If you have any queries, please refer them to me.
Thank you, Dawn.
