A reminder that there will be no power in the Central Library this weekend.
If you have easy access to the wall switches, it would be useful to turn equipment off at the wall, as well as via its own power switch. This includes the Ricoh printers.
We’ll just need to remember to turn it all on again on Monday.
Work has begun on tattle-taping the CD collection in the Central Library.
Unfortunately we have run out of tattle-tape strips and are only about a third of the way through. Work will progress as soon as we get hold of some more strips.
In the meantime – please be aware when issuing CD’s that some disks will be stripped and will need desensitising.
This can be done with the CD’s in their cases (you may need to swipe both sides of a double-cd case).
Also make sure that tattle-taped CD’s returned at CKI (or at the lending desk) are sensitised before they are re-shelved.
I guess I am just lucky that somebody has returned the spoon. I found it yesterday in the Staff Room drawer where spoons and forks are kept. Thanks to all who have expressed concern.
We have started moving documentary dvds out onto the open shelves on Level 2 (next to the exam papers).
There are 2 types of these – new dvds from collection services with LC call numbers and old dvds still with running number sequences. On the catalogue the running number sequence dvds will still say “Ask at Lending Desk” so you may still get borrowers asking for these at the desk. We are working on changing this message.
While the move is taking place you may have to look in 2 places to find running number sequence dvds – on the new open shelves or behind the lending desk.
We also ask that all dvds that come through check in be placed in the dvd returns tray so we can sort/process them.
As you may be aware we have been reclassifying all film dvds and putting them out on open shelves on level 2.
We have now finished the films in the running number sequence behind the lending desk but have missed some that were out on issue this month. We’d like to grab any returned film dvds that have not been reclassified as they come through check-in. Please place all returned dvds into the dvd returns tray (to the right of the AV shelving basket in the check in area)for us to check.
Hi I have been looking for my personal long spoon which I left in the sink in the staff room (Level 5) last week, thinking to come back for it and coulnd’t find it.
It is thin and long, much longer than the normal spoon that we use in the staff room. If you have mistaken it or seen it, do you mind to return it?
On Saturday staff from facilities management will be working on level 2 to remove the senors no longer needed and to remove the lighting.
If working over the weekend please ensure the area is safe and encourage customers to take care going to the lift or toilets.
Hopefully the daylight will provide sufficient lighting for customers. Please apologise if necessary for any inconvenience the low levels of lighting in this area may cause.
Copy Centre staff are all participating as a team in the University walk today (Monday 8th) and advise that they are closed from 12 to 1.30 pm. Apologies to borrowers for any inconvenience.
