This collection is being moved into the Level 4 Seminar Room until end of January to enable P – PQ to move into the vacated area. The collection code will have Ask at Lending Desk. If anyone wants items from this collection over the summer, please show them how to place a request.

1 Hour Loans
A reminder not to issue 1 hour loans on overnight loan. At this time of year particularly, we use the one hour loan period to manage especially heavy demand. Having the 1 hour loans here first thing in the morning means that our early bird borrowers have a chance to access the material they need.

Paper rolls for Eftpos to Canterbury card machine
Marilyn has given us a box of replacement thermal paper rolls for the Eftpos to Canterbury card machine in front of the Lending desk. The box is labelled appropriately and is sitting on top of the AYO’s lockers. Please see Helen, Romy or Fiona H. for demonstration of correct procedures for replacing the rolls as required (from today).

There is a pink returns box for a Pacific students’ survey on the Help Desk. I said it was ok to leave it there until Friday.

Noise in Central Library
Thanks to those staff who who have completed the first three “noise patrols” of the week and to the shelvers for distributing the notices this morning. The Library certainly seems a lot quieter today. Even if you are not officially rostered but encounter noisy groups please remind them of the quiet study policy. There is one vacancy on the roster for Thursday 11-12.

Window latches
A stitch in time….
On two occasions very recently during Extended Hours we have had to deal with window latches, in staff work areas, that have fallen off completely leaving the window swinging free. We have been told by Security that they do not deal with maintenance issues like this after hours, and although I can handle a screwdriver ‘with the best of them’ it doesn’t help when the screws have vanished as well! We don’t keep supplies of screws at the Lending Desk, and taping the window shut from the inside is not a good solution.
Would you please be pro-active and deal with any latch that is becoming loose either by putting in a BEIMS request to have it fixed more securely, or…. I can show you where to find a screwdriver or two!
Thanks,
Sandra
ANTA 102 & 103 DVDs
The Antarctic Studies stage one Summer School DVD’s are back! They are housed in a box on the shelf beneath the most recent Non-library
books. DVDs 6-26 relate to the ANTA 102 programme and DVD’s 27-48 to ANTA 103. I’ve put a masterlist of DVD numbers, lecture titles and lecturer names in the back of the box if students need help sorting out what they want.
A title keyword search ‘ANTA 102 DVD’ or ‘ANTA 103 DVD’ brings up the full list of titles for each course. (Victoria)
Ricoh printers in CL
If there is a fault with the printers (i.e. smudging etc), don’t ask the Copy Centre for help. Call the 0800 number on the printers and quote the serial number. The serial number in the Den printer is located inside the toner cartridge panel.
Toner cartridges should be send out automatically as toner becomes low but as a safeguard we need to keep at least 2 spare cartridges under the desk. I have ordered two extras for now. If you see that there are no spares there is an automatic toner ordering number on the printers. Let me know if there are problems.
Today the Den printer has a fault and a technician has been contacted (3.15).

NZ Statistics Collection – Level 3
The NZ statistics section of the Government Publications on Level 3 is currently being classified into LC. Trudy was managing this project but as she has left, progress will be a bit slower. At the moment there is a mix of classified and yet to be classified material, and some material is away being labelled and barcoded. If you can’t find something, please see Janette. Thanks to Serials for undertaking this project which will result in material being much easier to find as it will be in strict classification order.
