Mopier toner

Marilyn has provided a spare toner cartridge for the Den mopier (size 70A) in case the automatic email doesn’t reach her in time. It will be kept under the Help Desk. At the current rate of usage a new toner cartridge may be required every 3-4 weeks, so please take the time to familiarize yourself with the very simple installation procedure.

Mopier in the Den

Just a reminder about mopier arrangements. As we agreed at last week’s meeting, the mopier will no longer be locked. It needs to be filled with paper every morning as part of the Help Desk set up procedure. Marilyn is gving us a spare toner cartridge in case it runs out when she is not here. The toner cartridge is inserted in the top drawer on the right hand side of the mopier (to be labelled). it is simple to insert a new cartridge.

Soymail

One of the problems we have had for many years is the inadequacies of Webmail – and I think you’ve all had complaints about it. It hasn’t been developed for many years and creates major problems. ICTS have finally acknowledged it no longer suffices.

If you have students with problems using Webmail, recommend they try Soymail instead – using the link on the Webmail login screen:

Soymail is an interim web-based email service which ICTS are offering until they decide on a proper replacement for Webmail. It is better, but may have problems of its own not yet discovered. I haven’t tested it with PDF attachments.

Mopier in Den

A mopier is being trialled in the Den for the rest of the year. It is for printing A4 only – no copying or scanning as yet. There is a huge paper capacity and it should be possible to load sufficient paper for one day in the morning. It is now operational and the old printer is turned off. The paper drawers are locked. One set of keys wil be kept in the Help Desk drawers and another set in the key cupboard. I’ll organize some small group training asap.

Clubs day

A few queries at the Help Desk this morning as to where this is, students have been told the Clubs Day is in the “Library Undercroft”. The “undercroft” is a new buzzword for level 1 of the Central Library but the actual location of this event is outside on the grass concourse area.
