The Lending mopier is out of order – the side panel will not shut. No printing can be done on it at present (even to the bypass tray).

The lovely pink drawers have been reinstated at the back of the 3H shelves. Please bring trollies of items for Hold shelf in through the back door as there is more space.
Coloured cards are in the top drawer
Folders for disputed returns and lost books are in the second drawer.
Green gate count folder in the third drawer.
Interloans renewal request slips should be placed in the holder in their tray belonging to their Ref Only Hold material.

For reasons not yet apparent (i.e. it is a fault I’ve never seen before) the Self Check Unit in the Central Library is not connecting to Horizon.

I may have to reinstall part of the software and it may be Monday before it is fixed.

hi everyone that deals with the library closing routine.

For ease of access I have relocated the Gate reading folder to the yellow cabinet by the hold shelf (rather than the pink cabinet temporarily stuck in the AV room).

Today Shirley is on leave and we so we do not have a tea lady, Shock horror I hear you say… I know it will make us love and cherish Betty and Shirley more, when they return next year.

The small fridge has been turned off and all the milk etc is in the unlocked big fridge.

We are getting a steady trickle of engineering students wanting to consult theses. A gentle reminder to direct users to the PUBLIC door of the SC reading room, please, -ie the one immediately above Lending. If they are sent to Library Admin it makes work for Carole, and they end up trailing through a staff area. During the summer the SCR room is officially only open by appointment. If am there in the afternoon it is usually fine for users to pop in, but I tend to be busy elsewhere in the mornings.
So to summarise:
Morning enquiries : encourage email/phone contact – you can give them my business card
Afternoon enquiries: send them to the public SCR door. If I’m there they can come in, and if I’m not, there is a notice on the door that tells them the arrangements. If you wish, you can ring me to check on ext 4945.
