Monday and Tuesday we brought the last of the books and journals from level 2 down to level 1, and the stack was dismantled behind us. (This proved handy when my trolley, full of books, toppled over due to a faulty wheel, as a couple of guys with power tools were on hand who could fix the wheel in about the same time as it took three of us to get about 2 metres of books back into classified order.)
We have two dodgy computers in E4, Shane has worked on these and will check again later in the week. Number one is working for now but might need a follow up visit. Number nine needs more serious attention which will happen later in the week. I have switched it off at the wall for now.
Anne.
There is a problem with access to ALL our ASCE journals at present. It looks like ASCE haven’t processed our subscription renewal for 2009 as yet, even though we paid in October! They have been contacted and we hope to resolve this soon. Apologies for the inconvenience.
So far 733 students are enrolled in ENGR101 and the first assignment has just been handed out:
[…]Write an essay on what you understand a ‘professional’ to be and how professional engineers fit this definition. You should use examples from more than one branch of professional engineering and include information on training and qualifications and the types of activities professional engineers are involved in, as well as broader characteristics of the engineering profession.
The assignment is 2 pages plus a third page for references. Marks are for completeness of information, standard of writing, use of a range of information sources (not just the internet!), and proper APA formatting. Due on Monday 9 March 5pm.
