From now on please change the status for any item you put on the call number, repairs, rebarcoding, or stripping shelf to ‘ab’ (awaiting binding). This will ensure that the Horizon record shows where the item is. Once the item has been attended to it will need to be checked in to return the status to ‘in library’.

Archives and Digital Library
A reminder to all staff concerning the archives collections and Digital Library. At present Digital Library is the only way to access archives inventories online. This should be the first port of call for anyone wanting to find out what we have in the archives collections. There are close to 1200 archival inventories searchable via Digital Library. One can search individual inventories or search across all inventories at once. I would encourage you all to explore the archives service on Digital Library and if you have any questions or feedback please feel free to contact me.
CHEM 321, 361
If students are asking for a journal article (or tutorial reading) which their lecturer was going to put in the library they will find a link to the electronic version by doing a course code search.
More about thesis portal
Some of the links on the thesis portal have changed, because of links changing on sites outside the Library. The link to the Word templates is back (now we’ve found it on the new ICTS site). The links under the Starting a thesis heading have also changed, to go to the correct place on the Learning Skills Centre page. I’ve dropped a link that was previously there to The Thesis proposal because it now comes up at the top of the Surviving your thesis page.
PSL logbook
As the PSL logbook is now obsolete it has been removed from the drawer at the front desk. If you need to refer back to anything in it you will find it alongside the How to Manual on the shelf in the workroom.
COSC CDs
Now that the COSC CDs can be borrowed by students from some AFIS courses I have made a list of the courses and pasted it on the front of the blue ringbinder which holds the signed Student Use Agreements. Please check that the borrower is enrolled in one of the courses listed before issuing either the XP or Vista CDs.
Towel in Men’s toilets
I have phoned Cleaning Services as this needs to be replaced.
MB books requestable online Reminder
All MB books (except for Aotearoa Room materials) are requestable online. Place a request in the usual manner and the book will be available at the MB desk within 10 minutes.
link to thesis template
Now fixed!!! Back on thesis web page.
On the Library’s thesis portal there used to be a link to a Word thesis template under the heading Formatting a thesis. Since the ICTS web site has been upgraded, this link has been broken.
As I can’t find where this template is now, I’ve removed the link. I’ve contacted Sean Lowry (the new Loft supervisor) to ask him if he knows where it has gone to, and if he can tell me where it is, I’ll replace the link.
LIANZA Polls
LIANZA has started doing regular polls on it’s website and the ongoing results are instantly shown but will also be summarised in Library Life each month. The first poll is on web 2.0, something that people reading this have some contact with… 🙂
