11pm closing starts tonight. This means that 3 hour loans cannot go overnight until 8pm. As Central Library closes at 10pm we will need to edit the due date and time for all 3 hour loans issued between 7pm and 8pm. Instructions (in pink) are on all the front desk PCs.
On the next two Friday nights we will be open until 9pm. As 3 hour loans will only be able to go out overnight from 6pm they will need to be edited between 3pm and 6pm. I will put instructions on the PCs on those days.
A few times around lunch time we had “Printer Error 79.00 FE” with the printer. It seems (for now) the only way to fix it is turn the printer off and then turn it on again.
I have moved the large Mâori language readers to the middle of the other Mâori language readers. The Pacific Island readers are currently on a trolley beside the Môari language readers – I’ll be moving them to the 400s in the classroom collection this afternoon (at which time they’ll be where the catalogue says they are!) The Serials Team is always interested in hearing about ejournal access problems.
Vicki, Deirdre and Peter H. deal with these. We each look after certain types of problems, for example, Deirdre deals with ProQuest and Infotrac while Peter looks after problems with individual subscriptions.
Please contact either Peter (extn 8710) or Vicki (extn 8752) or send an email to Deirdre or Peter.
Got your attention? After much research and negotiation I have written a summary of Storage location peculiarities including where they are and methods of requesting items depending on which location is involved. You will find ‘Requesting material from Storage locations’ in Lending Services Resources on Camelot.
All staff who weed the hold shelf please familiarize yourself with the following:
Library IT have made a change to Horizon which affects how hold expiry dates are calculated when the Library is closed.
Currently holds that would have expired on a closed day are set to expire on the next open day. An example of this is a hold that would have expired on Queen’s Birthday will be set to expire on Tuesday. The change that we have made means that holds will receive one additional day for every day the library is closed before the hold expires. Using the same Queen’s Birthday example, holds that would have been due to expire on the Tuesday, would get an extra day, and expire on the Wednesday.
