Bindery, Missing Items and Storage Request form

Please use the new form in the vertical file drawer at the front desk for all manual requests.
It is on Camelot at http://camelot.libr.canterbury.ac.nz/lending/ This has a dual purpose of allowing us to forward requests electronically and also to print our own supplies. It features a watermark text ‘Have you checked for an on-line alternative’ that prints best directly from a PC to the copier i.e.
don’t copy from a print version of the form.

Instructions about the form and when to use it are in:
K:\PSL\How to manual\C9 bindery missing storage request form.doc

Missing books & missing barcoded serials procedures

Please note that from now on PSL’s procedures for missing books and missing serials which have been barcoded are as follows:

After it has been established that the item is missing the staff member at the front desk is to change the status to missing-tracing.
• Find the item record in Horizon staffPAC
• Press F10 or click on the send to icon
• Select Checkin, OK
• Select In house use, OK
• Edit item
• Change status to ms
• Save & close

Tell the borrower that we will do a thorough search for it and ask them if they would like to be contacted if it is found. If so place a request for them.
• F2 search to find the book record
• F5 to place a request

It is not necessary to complete the paper form for barcoded missing items. Patrick and Michelle will run a report and search for them each Sunday. However for any items which need to be searched for immediately please give the details to Joanne or Nicola.

Head Count

I’ve added a Calendar reminder to the desk login to help us remember the head counts in Angela’s absence. At the designated hour, a pop-up box will appear on the desk computers reminding that the count is due. After it’s done we’ll need to “dismiss” the reminder.
