The International Office is offering a student exchange programme, which allows students enrolled at UC to study at a university overseas. There are 40 partner universities in the programme. If any one is interested in being an exchange student, please send him/her to International Office, Level 4, Registry Building.
Maps of the campus
Which campus map do you prefer? The one with the dotted lines, which we have been using all year or the campus parking map? There are examples of both on the Help Desk.
Electronic Reference Trials
We have several exciting e-reference trials at present. Have a look at them and use them with students if you think they are appropriate. Any comments to Janette please.
Look for the link from the Library news on the home-page.
Card Co-ordinator
The Card Co-ordinator, Peter Street, has now moved (along with his card making operation) out of the Registry Concourse.
His new location is Room 109 of the Science Lecture Block. To find him, go through the main door, turn right, then left at the end, and Peter is the second room on the left.

Expiry dates for research students
Due dates for items loaned to research students truncate to an expiry date of 12/11/06. This is completely different from previous years where all research student got a standard expiry date of 28/2/next year.
The practical problem for the Library is that these research students will no longer be able to do online renewals as their expiry date falls before the current 60 day loan date.
Please advise them that they will have to do phone or in person renewals at a desk (through Horizon Circulation rather than Library Catalogue).
OECD, IMF and EIU publications relocated from Official Publications Collection
Issues for the current year of OECD Economic Surveys, EIU Country Profiles and Country Reports, and IMF Financial Statistics Yearbooks are currently being relocated to the Reference Collection.
Back issues of the OECD and EIU publications will go to the Warehouse.
Many of these reports are available online via Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre and/or MasterFILE Premiere.
Back issues of the IMF Financial Statistics Yearbooks and all issues of quarterly and monthly series of IMF Financial Statistics will be integrated into the main collection. Issues will be displayed for 2 weeks on receipt. Latest 5 years will be kept in Central Library. Previous issues will be kept in the Warehouse.
A.C. Nielsen
If a student asks for the AC Nielsen cd, and you can’t remember how to spell “Nielsen”, search for: Market information digest in Title keyword. It is CD-ROM 04/6 on 3 hour loan.
New Zealand Herald
The Library no longer has a copy of the New Zealand Herald as it not being sold in the South Island. A sub would cost $500 which is too expensive. Content can be found through Factiva or Australian New Zealand Reference Centre.

What is Counterculture?
Counterculture is a communication tool for all Help Desk staff. It is not intended to replace Help Desk FAQs but to communicate day to day issues relating to Help Desk questions and equipment. All Help Desk staff are invited to contribute and it is important to check Counterculture at the start of each shift.
