University of Canterbury acquired the collection of internationally renowned scholar Jan Willem de Jong in 2000. The collection consists of around 12, 000 published volumes and 50 linear metres of archival material. Subject areas cover Indology, Buddhist studies, classics, philosophy, and Australian history and literature.
In 2014 a group of scholars from the NZ South Asia Centre partnered with Macmillan Brown Library to research and promote the collection for scholarly use. This blog shares reflections of scholars who have explored items of interest in the collection.
We invite scholars, librarians and anyone else with an interest in the de Jong collection to read, comment, share and contribute to this blog.
