Vaping: can it extinguish cigarette fires in New Zealand by 2025?

  • Have you or your mate(s) ever smoked cigarettes or vaped?
  • Have you seen or been near someone vaping?
  • Do you think a smokefree society is possible?
  • Would you like the chance to win $100?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, please take a moment and participate in my research. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and you will have a chance to enter the draw to win one of ten $100 cash prizes. Participation is voluntary and all responses are anonymous.

My name is Ben Wamamili, I am a PhD student in Health Sciences at UC. My project is examining perceptions of  New Zealand university students on e-cigarette use (vaping), cigarette smoking, and the New Zealand Government’s Smokefree 2025 Goal. The Smokefree 2025 Goal aspires to have less than 5% (1 in 20) of Kiwis aged 15 years or older smoking by 2025. Currently 1 in 6 smoke.

Findings of this project are likely to shape debate and inform policy on this potentially vital addition to the tobacco control toolkit.

Thanks for your participation.
