Alert Level 1: stay at home if you’re sick

While it is great that New Zealand is in control of the COVID-19 situation, we are still in the middle of flu season and need to be proactive by taking safety precautions. If you or your peers are displaying flu or cold like symptoms, it’s essential that you stay at home.

By staying at home, you are not only looking after yourself but the wider UC community.  If you are displaying visible flu/cold like symptoms while in your lectures, you may be asked to leave. This is to ensure the safety of not only yourself, your lecturer and your mates.

We are lucky to be able to attend lectures on campus, so let’s work together to stay in this position and play our part to prevent the spread of any viruses.

If you are displaying any of these cold/flu symptoms stay home and call your doctor or Healthline (0800 358 5453):

  • a cough
  • a high temperature of at least 38ᵒC
  • shortness of breath
  • sore throat
  • sneezing and runny nose
  • temporary loss of smell

If you’re feeling worried about keeping up with the content, make the most of the resources that are available to you:

  • Lecture recordings on Echo 360
  • LEARN announcements
  • Lecturer office hours (once you are better)
