Swap, don’t shop!

We’re bringing Fashion Revolution Week to UC, with our annual Clothes Swap event!
Come and kōrero about the impacts of fast fashion on our people & planet AND take real action by choosing to swap, not shop!
We’re holding this Clothes Swap event to educate, inspire and celebrate the joys of choosing slow fashion, and talk about how we can each play our part in creating a better future for the fashion industry.
Plus, who doesn’t love free, funky, thrifted threads?!
What: Clothes Swap!
When: Wednesday 5 May, 11am – 1pm. Clothes can be dropped off from 9am.
Where: Te Rua Makerspace, Level 2, Puaka James-Hight Library
What to bring: Yourself, your friends, your max 15 items to donate to the swap, and a reusable bag to take your new threads home in!
See the Facebook event here for more info and all the details on how to participate in the swap.
Why are clothes swaps so important?

The most sustainable item of clothing is the one already inside your wardrobe!

By choosing to swap clothes instead of buying something new, you’re reducing your clothing carbon footprint, reducing water use and pollution, and standing up for gender equality, garment workers rights, and saying ‘no thanks’ to an industry that is often causing more harm than good. Plus, by choosing to move away from fast fashion and everything it stands for, you’re taking real action on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
