MHAW Day 2 – Kia Mataara | Take Notice

Kia ora ano,

The theme for today is Kia Mataara | Take Notice. Now that many of us have returned to campus, and maybe restarted part time work or sport, we would have noticed the speedometer of our lives increase rapidly. We are so busy, moving from one task to the next, that often we don’t take time to slow down and appreciate the very moment we are living in.

Taking notice (sometimes called mindfulness) can be as simple as a study break outside, noticing the trees (cherry blossoms are a must at UC), birds and all the activity on campus. Some people like to be guided in their mindfulness, and there are guided breathing and mindfulness activities on Mentemia, which you can download and access for free (more info here).

Have a go at whatever works for you, try and take a break to notice and be mindful today.
