Katie has a BA in Sociology from the University of Canterbury, and an MA (Applied) Social Science Research from Victoria University of Wellington. She has over ten years work experience in community-based sustainability projects. The role of the Sustainability Projects Facilitator is to foster communities of sustainable best practices, working with both staff and students. This is achieved primarily through initiating and supporting university-based demonstration projects.

Eco Week Wednesday 16 September

The UC Sustainability Office and Generation Zero are bringing you a couple of cracker events tomorrow….  don’t miss out!

12 pm : Climate Kilometre Grand Parade
Do your #ClimateKilometre en masse with Generation Zero, to raise awareness about the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris this November. The Grand Parade will feature electric cars, crazy bikes, colourful costumes, and whatever modes of zero carbon transport you like – be creative! Bikes, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades welcome.

Meet at 12pm by C Block lawn to get kitted out, the parade starts at 12.30pm. Treats and talks in the Undercroft lounge  from 1pm onwards.

5.30–7.30 pm:  Eco Week Documentary: The True Cost
This year we are screening the ground-breaking and harrowing documentary “The True Cost”. This recently released documentary film pulls back the curtain on the untold story of fashion and asks, who really pays the price for our clothing?
