CYCLE SAFETY – HAVE YOU SEEN A SHARROW?

The Christchurch City Council has released a short video explaining some of the new cycle infrastructure and road markings popping up around the city, particularly around UC as part of the UniCycle Major Cycle Route.

The road markings and layouts are new to Ōtautahi Christchurch so will generally be unfamiliar to road users. UC students and staff who bike, walk and drive will come across the new road layouts, so watch the video about the new road markings to help ensure everyone gets safely to their destination. The video aims to keep everyone safe around the area’s schools and the University.

One of the new types of crossing shown in the video – the paired cycle and pedestrian priority crossing – will soon be installed on Ilam Road, between UC and Ilam Fields.

Watch the video and visit the CCC website to learn more.

SVA Port Hills Recovery Project Part 1

On Saturday 24 June the Student Volunteer Army (SVA) headed to the Port Hills to help the Summit Road Society with the recovery process from the February scrub fires. With a stellar view and perfect weather the volunteers planted hundreds of native trees.

Don’t worry if you missed out on the fun there’s a second day of planting planned for Saturday 1 July, see Facebook for details.
